Bento Fun #47
The cough has made me into a scattered brain and I constantly has giddy spell as well for trying to cough out phlegm that seems to be sticking on my throat. I know it is yucky but that was what I am feeling even at this very moment I am typing this. I felt my throat so itchy all the time and no cough medicine seems to works or whatever remedies I have tried… work… maybe I stopped abstaining from poultry products.
Anyway, I have not been cooking much these past weeks and so ashamed to say I only did one Bento post last week!
I did a little grocery shopping earlier this week but did not get to do much with cupcake orders as well as FIL’s admission to the hospital.
This was the Bento I did Monday after a trip to the afternoon market. The price of vegetables seems to have double or triple! I just got a small brocolli, one very small green and one red capsicum and that already RM6! Anyhow, I am not going to rant further on the prices as that market is rated as one of the most expensive around…
.
Top: Streamed Kurau filet with half pan-fried tofu garnished with blanched brocolli
Bottom: Star shaped rice with steamed Kurau sauce topped with a tiny star sitting on stir-fried pork slices and some blanched sweet peas
.
Darrius loves stars very much so this is the only origini (rice ball) he is happy to have. He even cried so loud when his daddy trying to smash up the rice to mix with the sauce! The portion is a tad too huge for him so he did not finish the tofu but finished most of the other stuff.

Speedy recovery to you. It’s definitely the flu season!!! I fell under the weather too 2 weeks ago
wah u still can make bento ah??!! U really keng chow man! Anyway, try this for you cough…I think it’s a Hokkian thing to get the phlegm out:
Make Kai Tan Char (keh niu teh)… measure about 3/4 of a rice bowl with water, and boil the water in a pot. Once it’s boiling, crack an egg and stir the egg to break it up…kinda like making egg drop soup. I used to take it with rock sugar (to taste)melted in the “teh”…but my mom told me adding salt instead is more effective…but taste HORRIBLE. Try and see, if u can get the phlegm out. Get well soon.
get well soon!
