How to make Apple Bunny
If you often visit Japanese mothers’ blogs, you would have known how to do the bunny or tulip using apple quarters. There are some Bento books that provide tips on how to do cutting of these simple designs to brighten up your bento too but I know not many people who are as crazy as me who kept buying these books when I can get excellent tips online… simply because I’m a shopaholic and a collector!
A Mom’s Diary asked me earlier about these bunnies and tulips in one of my post so I decided to get some apples to demonstrate to her.
.

.
Top left: First cut a small portion on one of the end.
Top right: Lightly cut a ‘V’ shape line at the leveled side (around 1mm deep).
Bottom left: Use the tip of your knife and remove the ‘V’.
Bottom right: Slowly cut out the bunny’s ears (2mm thick).
.

.
After you’ve done all the cutting, soak into salted water for a few minutes so the ‘ears’ will ‘open’ up.
Hope the demo with the images above helps…
Happy Bento-ing folks!
