Bento Fun #93
This week will be pretty tight for me as I have quite a few orders to complete. A few needs delivery too so that will take a lot of my time away. Anyway, I’m just glad business is moving even with the lousy economy.
Today I decided to do some fried rice after having a crave for it since I had it last week in one of the food stall. Initially I have wanted to cook anchovies fried rice but I ran out of the medium sized anchovies so I settled for salted fish fried rice instead. I just love a bit of saltiness while I munch.
Finally I found a recipe for meat balls that don’t disintegrate when I deep fry them. Though with limited ingredients, they turned out pretty well. For the recipe, pop over to my recipes blog.

Today’s bento is a speedy one since I am too tired after frying the rice… hehehe. On the left is the fried rice topped with deep fried imitation crab meat/sticks. They are really crunchy after it cooled down but has to keep in an air tight container or else it will go soggy after a while.
There are 2 meatballs which I purposely shaped it into ‘drumlet’ so I can use those cute bone picks!
Do’t they looked like chicken drumlets now? hehehe There was a small section of raw Pearl corn on the cob top with a carrot flower. Pearl corns are organically grown so best to eat raw as they have abundance of nutrients.
I added some blanced broccoli since Darrius don’t take the lettuce (mommy will eat the lettuce later) some Thai King mango slices. It is Thai Mango season now so they are going real cheap! RM2.90/kg is really a steal!
There’s also a cherry tomato which I cut into a flower for decoration purposes. Surprisingly Darrius ate everything except half of the fried rice… this boy is weird sometimes!
Anyway, just want to thank Susan Yuen for organizing an earlier Kid’s Bento contest and yours truly came in #2. Not bad since I am not a regular bento packer… but more like a bento gadgets collectors.
Btw, if you have not heard yet, there is a very interesting bento contest going on at Javapot’s site. Try your luck and see if you can win some of the attractive prizes she is offering.
Now, I’ll have to go brain storm a bit for that contest and hope you folks have fun bento-ing!
