Bento Fun #109
Before we left Ipoh on Monday, I went to get some Swiss Rolls which was said to be very delicious according to a few moms I knew who often buy these Swiss Rolls each time they were in Ipoh. However, every time I was in Ipoh, I did not get to buy any as it will slip my mind but I make sure I remember it this time!
With the swirl of these Swiss Rolls, what could be a better idea than using it as the shell of a snail??? So, Darrius gets a Snail bento box this morning!

In the box was a slice of Carrot Cream Cheese Swiss Roll with peanut filling. For the head is a slice of red apple with nori for details and raisins on toothpicks for the tentacles. There are another slice of apple whih I cut into 2, 2 cherry tomatoes and some mixed nuts to fill up the empty space.
For those of you who might be visiting Ipoh, try not to miss these yummylicious Swiss Rolls! To see what flavors they have… check out their website before you go.

I bought their ’sie-dai-tin-wong’ which has 4 different flavors inside so I can get to taste a few. In the box there are a portion of Carrot Cream Cheese, Banana Cream Cheese, Pumpkin Cream Cheese and Spinach Cream Cheese. Personally I find the pumpkin and carrot taste really nice. I also bought another roll of Fresh Mango with fresh cream filling… and it was yummy too! A friend suggested that I try their Cempedak flavor if I’m buying again.

Wow! swiss roll, but not as I know it =)
In the UK, swiss roll is a sweet item, usually an egg sponge filled with strawberry jam and cream or it’s a chocolate sponge filled with cream. I’d love to try something like this, so I’ll keep an eye out in my local asian food store!
Susan – this is the same Swiss Roll that you have there just that here they are more creative with the flavoring. I doubt the Asian food store i your place will have such things… coz this shop is the one and only in the entire country…
