Bento Fun #127
When I asked Darrius yesterday if he likes his bento, he told me ‘Mommy, why you always give me bread?’ >o<
Ok, I am lost for words as I don’t really want to explain why I don’t want to pack noodles or rice into his snack box cause he will never understand anyway… After all, he cleaned up the entire bento yesterday or those the day before!
Since I still have the wholemeal bread, I just went ahead and pack him another cheese sandwich this morning. I’ll go crack my head this weekend if I can pack any other stuff next time… I doubt it but I’ll try what I can do… maybe back to mantou for a change…
In today’s bento…

Finally I am starting the Easter theme though I’ve done some bunnies/rabbits in the past weeks. Just want to join in the B.O.M.B Challenge fun again for April over at Hapa Bento.
I cut the bread according to the box shape and stuffed all the bits and pieces of cheese (from all the cut outs) and hid them in between the bread… not to waste any unused cheese bits!
Added some tiny carrot flowers and dotted some ketchup on the bunny’s cheeks with nori for eyes , nose and mouth.
On the other section, I put in two mini chicken cocktails, a crab claws, baby carrots and yellow cherry tomatoes. Darrius told me he loves those yellow cherry tomatoes. I think he is sick of the red ones…
There’s no more space for other fruits today!
That’s all for today… TGIF and a happy weekend ahead everyone!

Hey, I made bunny bento too today for the B.O.M.B.
My boy is the other way round, everytime I asked him what he want for his bento, he will tell me bread with butter. Sometime I wonder what else I can change (besides rice and noodles which are too much for snack) so that is not so boring, but no idea yet
KDW – hahaha! My boy is very cheeky… though he can be as boring as his daddy most of the time but he will surprise me once in a while! He told me his teachers kacau him about his bento wor… I don’t know what he meant by that?!
I have the same problem too. Due to Zo is in afternoon class and I had to pack the bento in the morning b4 I leave for work, there is not much choice I have except bread. Cold ooey pasta/noodle will definately out of the question… moreover her recess is very short, so if the portion is too big of filling, she won’t be able to finish them in time. haihs..headache.
Yeapies – I can understand perfectly how you feel! My boys can get real messy when it comes to rice and dishes so I dare not put rice/pasta in his bento unless he has them at home. I don’t think his teachers will be happy if he mess up the tables! Maybe I have to think of some yummy fills to put in his bread besides cheese/jam/peanut butter! I can’t understand why recess is so short… imagine we have to fight to get to the counter!
This is cute! Cute bunny to submit into B.O.M.B Challenge … nice to see you are starting the Easter theme
Lia – hopefully I can do more next week! Looking forward to see yours too!
I love how the sandwih perfecty fits the shape of the box! Very cute bunny! I suggest pressed rice as an alternative to bread. Cold, refridgerated stodgy rice! My kids love it! I am pretty impressed with the way the rice sticks together and stays together if you really compress it and pack it (I use saran wrap / cling film for mine and squish hard with my hands) The planet ones on my latest ET Bento for example were a great size for the toddler AND the baby to have and munch on, and I was quite surprised at how little mess it generated.

Thanks for the tips Asfora! Maybe I’ll try that someday.
Hi dearie, got awards for you. Come claim them.
Thanks SIG! Will go pick it up soon!
Awww, your bunny bento is so cute!!! I love the rosy cheeks too!
Thanks Susan!
hi.. beautiful bento.. I am inspired recently to try to prepare some for my gal! May I know how do u prevent the bits of carrots etc from moving around when we keep the bento box in their bag?
Thanks for popping by Irene!
To ensure that your girl’s bento’s content don’t ‘move about or go askew’ you should always pack your bento tightly with sufficient items. If you noticed, I will fill up my boy’s bento box with ‘fillers’ such as fruits, vegetables or sausages to fill up all the possible gaps.
Hope that helps!
