Bento Fun #184 – Fishy Business & A Back to School Giveaway!
Same as always, I do not have much ideas till I need to cook! Then I’ll start to rummage my fridge and freezer for suitable food to be included into the bento. I bought some fish fingers to try last week but did not thought of cooking them till today as there were other food that we have to finish first. It has been a long time since I buy any fish fingers but gotta try some for bento!
I have wanted to do those fishes that many Japanese moms do especially for Boy’s Day. I think Boy’s Day passed earlier in the year if I’m not wrong. Anyway, I just wanted to practice my onigiri skills so here it is…

I made 3 fishes for today and colored them too. The first one is pumpkin flavored, the second was ketchup flavored and third is plain with blue coloring. Initially I have wanted to make white color egg sheet for the eyes but I was already late to pick Darriusup so I just use cheese. The details are nori punch outs. I think the scales will look better if I cut some cheese or ham to decorate. Will try that again the next time…
For the goodies, there is a small section of corn on the cob, a long bean basket with a meatball, fish fingers, meatballs, strawberries and a red cherry tomato.
Darrius finished everything except the pumpkin onigiri! He even ate extra sections of corn on the cob!
