Bento Fun #188 – Mr Monkey
It has been a long time since I bought ham so I decided to check out the deli shop to get some. Was trying to find those pinkish type which the Japanese moms uses a lot in their bentos but can’t seem to find any so at the end I ended up buying only a few slices of the honey leg ham to try.
So, after the getting the ham, what should I do with it?
Since Darrius has been a little ‘monkey’ of late so I decided to stick to that theme! Yes, he is getting very annoying… he talks too much (very long winded!) and likes to imitate what Mr. Bean do!!!! So, it is like monkey see, monkey do!

I did not use the red rice this time to make the monkey onigiri. Instead I flavored it with soy sauce and using dark sauce to darken the color. The eyes are made of cheese with nori details. The ears and the muzzle are cut-outs from the honey leg ham.
Goodies in the box consist of 2 tumeric with curry leaves bits chicken drummets fried in boxing chicken style, some strawberries, a red cherry tomato, a golden cherry tomato (hidden), some French beans and lunche0n meat cubes.
Made this bento for Darrius’s dinner last night. He ate all the cheese and ham (as expected), part of the monkey (he broke up all the rice), ate only one chicken drummet, all the French beans with luncheon meat, all the strawberries and cherry tomatoes. His daddy helped him to clean up whatever was left in the box!

Added this to ‘What’s for Lunch Wednesday Week 13‘ at Shannon’s.
