Bento Fun #213 – Mr Crabby
Thank you to all who has been visiting Bento Fun. My sincere apologies to all of you that I have not been able to visit your blogs yet as life has been kind of ‘hellish’ because Baby G is sprouting her upper 2 front teeth and she has been extra cranky and fussy!!! She don’t want to sit on her own and wanted to be carried all the time if she sees us walking around or sitting down doing our own things!
I have not been getting a good sleep since she started teething and the past few nights has been terrible as she will scream each time she turned around! I just hope this will end soon else I’ll turn into a real zombie! Don’t even need any costume for Halloween! hahhaa
There are so many project on my to-do list and I still can’t plan for those as most of the time my ideas just popped up on the spot when I wanted to make my bento. No time to do any proper planning at all!
For example, this morning’s bento was also a last minute thingy. Since I still have the butter rolls, I thought I’ll just do something with it. Darrius will get a small bowl of porridge in school but I know it won’t be enough for him, thus the bento…

Ok, this time is Mr Crabby!
I bought some frankfurters and thought they are perfect for making Mr Crab. I just have to cut a small section from both ends which I used for the pincers. Then cute 2 slices off for the eyes and the remaining I sliced it into 6 long strips for the ‘legs’.The black thingy on the eyes are dried blueberries and the mouth is nori.
Added some Cheerios as ’sand’ to fill up the space. Also 2 strawberries for colors. There isn’t much space to add more items and Darrius won’t be able to finish them if I put more stuff.
When I went to picked him, I asked him what was in his bento? He gave me an empty look. Then I told him it was a crab. He asked me to confirm. Then I asked him back ‘did it look like a crab or a spider?’ and he answered me, ‘more like a spider.’ *bang wall*
I guess the long ‘legs’ kinda misleading!!!

When my two kids were small, I just could do simple cooking or use store-bought dishes.
I admire your endurance. You still find time to make bento, to blog and even to go bento gear shopping
You can give Baby G something cold to bite on. Maybe a piece of cold apple. It can relieve some pain.

I asked my four year old what she thought this picture was. She said it was a crab because it had scissors (pinchers). It is a cute crab.
How do you keep things from sliding all over when it gets moved around?
Another cute lunch with the roll! You are amazing. I hear you on no sleep. My 8 month old is driving me absolutely insane! He wakes up between 4 and 10 times each night. I’m a walking zombie too!

Hope I can send you extra power for dealing with that hellish situation, hehehehe. What a sweet thing to see that in that hellish situation the little D still can have a yummy bento
You can really create amazing stuff from the things that we mere mortals see as nothing unusual. Salute you.
Don’t worry, I have been slacking on all of my blog reading as well. I am in love with the characters that you are making out of the butter rolls. They are so cute and creative!
