Wiener or sausage heart – Tutorial

I have a friend who has just started packing bento for her son to bring to his kindy and she has no idea how to make the wiener or sausage heart which most bentoers do to fill up thier bento boxes.

This is a very simple step-by-step wiener or sausage heart tutorial.

Firstly, cut across the wiener diagonally making sure both sides are equal…

This is how you should arrange them…

Secure with a food pick…

Here are some of my past bento which has wiener hearts in them…

Hope the tutorial is helpful for those who has just started packing bento. Wieners hearts are good to use as fillers in bento so there will be no empty space where food will get shake around especially when you are packing for little kids. It is always good to make your bento as compact as possible to minimize any movements so all the food’s positions will be kept intact.

I will be posting more tutorials when I time permits so stay tuned yah! :D

    Hi there!

I’d like to ask about the vege you use in bento.

Apart from broccoli and salad, are there any other vege you would recommend for bento?
Because I realise that some like cabbage doesn’t taste nice raw/boiled.

Farah, You can always use lettuce (there are many types) or yau-mak-tam (another types of lettuce) to spice up your bento box. Sometimes you can use cauliflowers too but it is white so you’ll have to create more colors to bring it out!
