*Camera Shopping*
I have been taking photographs of food since 2006 and all these while I am only using a PNS (point & shoot) camera. However, after almost 6 years I think it is high time I upgrade myself and invest in a DSLR so I can further improve my photo taking skills.
The question of which is the ultimate camera I should get is still in the process. I’ve been bugging some friends who are professional photographers to help me select ‘THE ONE’ camera which suits me.
Personally I like Canon since I’ve been using their PNS for years. Therefore, I am more familiar with their functions. However, most of my sifus prefer NIKON. I know this is a very personal thing but I do hope I can go ‘pro’ someday! lol
Other than considering the type of lenses I should get, I also have to think of the nikon camera batteries, tripod, hoods, filters as well as a mini table set up box! It is all $$$$!!!

Hi hi! I Canon and Nikon are both great quality cameras. I think it is best if you start with a used one, an older version to understand and learn how to take photos and then you can buy a brand new one after you graduate as a beginner. My hubs got my a brand new Canon 7D for xmas 2011 but recently gotten stolen.
I loved my camera! anyway, either one is great! they also have videos to teach you how to take photos online that you can learn! Good luck!

Me too.. was thinking of getting a better camera like DSLR.
But I think I am not ready to handle the big chunky DSLR with all the tools required like Lens etc..
I am thinking of getting the compact one like Panasonic Lumix LX5 or Canon Powershot S95.. they are smaller in size but the lens work like the DSLR.
what do you think?

i’m using canon 40D and i find it pretty easy to use and its kit lense are quite gud..
also i dun think tat tripod and hood are necessary at d beginning =) at least i dont =)
