*Wedding band*

Next year we will be celebrating our first double digit wedding anniversary! Can’t believe how time flies! Since it is still 6 months away, nothing has been planned yet. Hopefully we can do something special to commemorate this special day.

Though I would love the hubby to get me one of those diamond rings from the wedding bands platinum series but I would be more than happy if he gets me any other things :) It is the thoughts that counts right? :)

Nude Food Movers

Well, I’ve been really quiet lately. Besides the hustle and bustle of daily life, I’ve got a minor health scare recently. Thus, not doing much online work.

Have not been feeling too well and there was some chest pain so decided to check it out what was causing all the annoyance. Did a MRI scan of the heart, blood test as well as X-ray and was glad there was nothing major. Phew~ Doctor said it could be due to stress and anxieties. Therefore, I decided to take a back seat on all non important stuff until I am in the pink of health.

Due to that, I have not been doing a lot of kawaii bento but rather following the local trend here in Australia by using the Nude Food Movers System to pack the kids’ lunch boxes. It is supposed to be rubbish free so there is no waste such as food scraps and packaging in the kid’s lunch bag.

.

It is a simple system where all prepared food are kept in specific boxes which can be fitted into a bigger box holding the different items together. I like the empty jar with a cap lid where I can put yogurt for the kids. Well, I can buy the individual serving yogurt but that means my kids will have to bin the empty containers and sometimes they can’t finish and those left over yogurt will be left flowing into the lunch bag since they do not have a lid. Also, it is cheaper to buy a 1L tub than buying individual serving tubs. Less mess and less rubbish!

*Learning guitar*

Darrius has stopped his keyboard lessons since the beginning of this term as we are unable to see his progress. Probably it is conducted in school and the session is too short to really learn much. We intend to switch him to guitar intead as it is cheaper to purchase a guitar compared to a piano or keyboard. Also, it is more convenient to bring around too.

Just discovered we can actually make our own guitar. Isn’t that cool??? Yes, we can now make a martin as they are selling the kit! Can’t wait to let Darrius know about it. :)

Bento Fun #350 – The Speed Bento

Gawd! It is already the end of Term 2 and now we are having a 2 weeks break! Can’t imagine where the time has gone to! Everyday is busy day when one have 3 very active kids that keeps you on your toes! >.<

I am still packing lunches for both my school going kids but they are not too photo worthy and with the gloomy weather, lighting is bad so there is no motivation at all. Finally I understood why so many people loathe winter. Weather in Melbourne sucks big time at this time of the year.

For now, most of the time I only pack speedy bento that don’t require much ‘make-up’ but still able to keep hungry tummies filled. :-) However, I do make sure the kids get nutritional food in their bags…

Since I am into bread making lately, the kids get freshly baked bread for their lunch boxes on most days which I alternate with one or two days of other favorites. Here is butter loaf slice with ham and cheese, some green grapes, strawberry and some left over Chinese New Year beehive cookies. (btw, this photo was taken somewhere in March)

Surprisingly, kids love such simple stuff

*End of financial year sale*

It is the EOFY sale again! Everything is going on sale! One of my favorite time of the year where a lot of stuff are going at a much discounted price! In fact it is the best time to purchase some big ticket items but we already have most of them so we are just looking/waiting for other stuff.

I am waiting to get a buffet table for my dining room as well as a decorative shelf to keep some of my expensive cookwares. After I get those then I can go look for checkered tablecloths for my dining table.

Looking forward for a great bargain!

Bento Fun #349 – Totoro Bento 2

When autumn sets in, the mood to make cute bento fades… as the sky is always gloomy so it is difficult to get nice photos in the morning. I hardly pack any kyaraben now as it can be pretty rush in the morning.

This is another Totoro bento I make a while back…. yeah, it was so long ago and I am only posting it now!

The breads sold here is too soft and the texture is not nice to make shape sandwiches.

*Getting a pet*

The two older kids have been bugging me to get them a pet. They have asked for a puppy, a fish, a hamster and parrot. Gosh! Not that I am not encouraging them to love animals but looking at them… they are still very much my pets! Told them honestly, if they can’t take care of themselves, I won’t be able to give in to their request!

Darrius especially has been begging me to get him a dog but I told him there are heaps of responsibilities that comes with the dog! Also, there will be a lot to spend on the dog too! For instance, when we train the dog to do simple tricks, we need to get dog training treats to motivate it! Can’t imagine how much it will cost to groom the dog later!

Baby turned 2!

It has been a busy Easter week for us. Not that we are celebrating Good Friday and Easter but our baby turned 2 on the eve of Good Friday. We celebrated her birthday on Good Friday as her daddy was away on biz trip till late on the actual day.

Here is the cake I baked specially for the occasion…

Little girl and her siblings had a great time at the little party I organised for her. It was a blessing that her grandparents are here to celebrate this wonderful day with her. :)

Slow posting

The past weeks has been hectic! There were so much going on so I got sucked up totally with work. I don’t have time to sleep too! Yes, it was that bad… as baby was not sleeping well at night and I was forced to wake up many times a night attending to her cries.

Also, the first school term is coming to an end and it is kind of a relief as I can sleep in a little more from next week onward to catch up on sleep.

Hopefully I am able to post more in a week since I still have a bit of backlog!

Bento Fun #348 – Happy Garden Bento

I have quite a few bento posts lined up but really have no time to post them. I am trying my very best to get all the photos processed but it has been tough to get time to sit in front of the PC. Baby just won’t let me sit down in peace. When she naps, I will have to quickly finish up the never ending list of house work.

Here is a bento I made for Darrius 2 weeks back. He has Footy practice every Wednesday this term…

Both pear onigiri mixed with some furikake have meat floss and mayo filling.  There is a tamagoyaki, a chicken nugget, broccoli, strawberry and cherry tomato. A chocolate Moo box and a LCM complete the meal. He had a heavy breakfast so I did not pack that much for him.
