The usual Speedy Bento

On most days it is a rush in the morning as I need to get all the kids ready before dropping Darrius off at school. My eldest girl is a pretty difficult in the morning so I have to waste sometime getting her ready after which I’ll have to prepare baby. Darrius can get himself ready but I have to make sure he did everything properly… boys!

Luckily I bought the Air Fryer so on most days I just throw some of the frozen food and they got heated up pretty fast and the kids love these crunchy and crispy food.

So, on most days now are speedy bento versus pretty and picture perfect bento…

.

The above were some of the speedy bento I made for both kids as my eldest girl requested to have one when she goes to her play school once a week.

*Hooked on CSI*

I was not very keen to watch those gory shows on the TV previously but ever since we moved to this house, I like lounging on the sofa each night after I tucked baby in for the night. And I found watching CSI extremely exciting as they have 2 episode back to back on 2 nights in a week.

Hubby asked me why I like watching this particular show so much out of a sudden and I told him it is very interesting to watch the plots of the crimes and the way they used technology to find criminal background checks. I do wonder sometimes if this is what the police force in the US is like? So high tech! :P

Anyway, it is another was to de-stress and relax… like reading a book but a short one just within an hour the ’story’ conclude.

Bento Fun #335 – Tri-Color Tamago Sushi

I went to the Centro in Glen Waverly a few times but I did not notice there is an Asian grocer near the Market Street until recently. I was really excited to discover they actually do stock up some Korean and Japanese items and to my surprises, the rice coloring which I was looking for!

And without delay, I made some colored sushi for Darrius just before his Term 1 break 2 weeks ago…

.

.

I used the blue, red and yellow but I guess I did not put enough as the colors were quite pale after taking the photographs. Will try again soon and hopefully I can do some designs using the colors. :)

*Over-worked*

Hubby has been swamped with work after joining the new company since the beginning of the year. There are so much to learn and do and he has to bring home lots of work to be done at home as he needs to catch up on the job. He needs to travel pretty often too which is not a good news to me as I will be left with the 3 kids all by myself.

Recently he has to attend a few events and he seemed to be to over-worked. He spent most of his time at home doing lots of testings as he has not enough time to do in the office since he needs to go out to the field to meet up with customers too.

I hope he can find a business intelligence program to help him but his work is pretty technical so can’t be helped that he has to do it the hard way. Just hope this phase will pass soon else he won’t have time to spend with the kids.

Bento Fun #334 – Another Onigiri day

I have not been packing any nice or cute bento lately as I am so tired to wake up early like what I used to do. This was due to the many late nights feedings has caused my bed time go hay wired. Baby is teething and she has difficulties sleeping soundly. She wakes up many times in a night and this somehow affected my sleep.

However, if I do managed to catch a few more winks than usual, I will get up earlier to pack a decent bento for Darrius…

.

.

Bought some furikake from a Korean grocer a while back and decided to make some onigiri with it. The packaging showed that there are 3 colors but when I opened all the 3 packs they are the same… all mixed. *hmmm*

Together in the box is a egg heart, some blood orange slices, strawberries and a little cherry tomato from our little garden!
