*East Meet West Orchestra*

Today at the langugae school the staff put up some posters for the up coming orchestra where some of the students from the school will be performing. The principal encouraged students whom are currently taking music lessons to attend as this will give them some motivation. The title is East Meet West Orchestra.

Have not been going to any of such performances for a long time. The last time I went was in Sydney Opera House. Can’t remember which show was that but it was a good and eye opening experience as that was my first time watching an orchestra play.

They uses all types of instruments including pbone. Can said that it was quite a complete set as the entire group has more than 50 musicians.

*Party pack*

Last weekend Glennedine attend one of her classmate’s birthday party at the nearby Maccas. It was quite a new outlet which was an extention from the previous drive through outlet. This was the first time we patronise the place since we hardly Maccas.

We arrived late since we have to attend language class earlier. However, we manafed to catch the cake cutting moment. It was a huge round chocolate mud cake with lots of marshmallows on it. We missed out the earlier activities which we are not sure what has been in the program.

When it was time to give out the party packs, the staff then realized they actually ran out! How absurb! The party was booked like weeks in advanced and no one actually check the stock! Birthday girl’s parents were real crossed with the situation. After some negotiation they finally decided to give some discounts.

Now, I am having doubt if I should hold birthday parties with these fast food chains….

*Working trips*

Usually in the 2nd quarter of the year, hubby’s work trips will increased. Though he has less trips out of the country now but there are a lot of domestic trips as his job covers quite a bit of the neighbouring states. Well, Australia is huge so you can imagine :)

In his recent flight he was delayed for 2 hours in the airport. And he can’t get any luckier than having his laptop battery died on him. Luckily he has his LaptopbatteryExpress dell latitude Battery replacement on standby for just in case, cases like these happens!

He was pretty glad that he did not checked in his spare battery else he will sure to curse and swear. As his trip was for a week, he couldn’t be more relieved he has his spare battery with him else he can’t get his work done if he can’t find a power point.

Due to the delay, he has to missed out on another appointment. And all that was due to over booking of the flight!

Bento Fun #352 – Inarizushi Bears

Went to the Korean mart a while back and bought some aburage (prepared tofu-pockets) to make inarizushi. Darrius loves it very much but Glennie don’t quite like it but here, mommy will make everyone try eating everything! :P

These are pretty easy to make and extremely speedy. Just use the oval cutter to cut the cheeses, whole for the muffles and cut half for the ears.

Bento Fun #351 – Happy Onigiri

Life has been really busy especially you have 2 school goers and a toddler! I felt that 24 hours a day is really not enough as there are always so much work to complete! Though I love to make cute bentos for my kids but sometimes there are so much happening in the morning that really don’t give me much time to decorate the bentos and snap nice photos of them.

Here is a bento I made a while back but don’t have the time to post!

These are some of the kids’ favorite food at the moment! Yes, chicken nuggets will always be a hit just like sausages! Kids, they love unhealthy food don’t they??!! Well, it is ok to have some not too healthy stuff in a healthy bento to balance up! What is most important, they eat and fill up their hungry tummy! :)

*Picking up the drum*

Over the holidays we went to visit a few recycle shops to check on some toys and came across a very good condition drum set. I asked the girls if they are keen and only the baby wanted to have a go at it.

I asked Darrius if he would like to pick up drum lessons when he goes back to school and he was having mixed feelings. I told him we can send hims for special edition DW to get him acquainted with drum playing so he will have a better grip when he attend proper lessons.

Till then, I am not going to worry too much.

Back to school!

Summer holiday came and gone and in a week time school will reopens for 2015! How time flies!!! This year Darrius will be in Grade 4 and Miss G will be in Prep! She is finally joining the big school!

We are all prepared with the new gears… bags and lunch bags (Frozen theme of course!) …uniforms and all the misc! She is excited but she tends to forget when she plays and chatter away! I hope she is not Ms Chatterbox in class!!!

As for this mommy… that means the lunch boxes will be rolling in once again! Hadn’t been posting much as I can hardly find the time to process the photos and typing out but will try to do that more in the coming weeks :)

*Saxaphone*

I don’t play the saxaphone so when someone mentioned about Vandoren reeds alto sax, I have the faintest idea what it is until I searched the internet.

The reed vibration controls the air flow into the saxophone and it is the key to making a sound! Most reeds are given a rating of strength of 1 through 5. The lower the number, the lower the reed which is softer and the higher the reed, the stronger it is. Generally, most beginner will start of with a lower reed and the advanced players will usually use a hinger reed.

Well, there are certainly lots of things to learn when one picks up a musical instrument!
