Bento Fun

Time has really change as we can purchase almost anything online now. It is so convenient to shop in the comfort of our home and we get better bargains too. I think due to the demographic here in Australia, online business is thriving as some places, you’ll need to travel a great length to shop.

As we might be moving to our new house soon, we’ll need to get more mattresses as we intend to let the kids to sleep in their own room. I suggested to hubby that we should not only get mattress latex as it is more comfortable but we should also get the lighter foam mattresses too so that we can keep in the guest room.

Looks like we will shop online for them as we can get free delivery!

Now that baby is learning to walk I have very little time to do much. I have to plan most of my cooking time now so that she will be napping when I cook. She has been waking up early too so I rarely have the chance to pack cute bento for Darrius and he is not complaining since he is used to the simple lunch boxes I packed for him now… looking like his friends’ lunch boxes!

The other week I made some tuna buns and kept some of the dough for burger buns. I was supposed to pack for Darrius but only to realized that he has cooking class in school and told me he don’t want to bring any lunch so I ended up making the burger for my girl.

The pork patty was home made too which was inspired by Jamie Oliver’s 15 minutes meals which was aired on the TV2 weeks back. Love the idea of adding those mustard seeds to the meat as it gave a nice tangy taste.

I have yet to get news on Darrius’s school concert for this year. As he is in Year 2 now, I am not sure if he will be involved in any of the line up as he was not last year. I hardly mix around with other mommies in school hence I am quite out of touch except for the school’s newsletter.

Last year Darrius has a disco night which was organised at the end of the school year and they actually divided all the students in 2 sessions. The school actually turned the gym into a disco dance floor complete with a DJ! Not sure if the musical instruments were hiwatt from musicians friend but I know the kids had a blast!

It seems that the school had it every year and Darrius is looking forward to this year’s disco night.

On most days it is a rush in the morning as I need to get all the kids ready before dropping Darrius off at school. My eldest girl is a pretty difficult in the morning so I have to waste sometime getting her ready after which I’ll have to prepare baby. Darrius can get himself ready but I have to make sure he did everything properly… boys!

Luckily I bought the Air Fryer so on most days I just throw some of the frozen food and they got heated up pretty fast and the kids love these crunchy and crispy food.

So, on most days now are speedy bento versus pretty and picture perfect bento…

The above were some of the speedy bento I made for both kids as my eldest girl requested to have one when she goes to her play school once a week.

I was not very keen to watch those gory shows on the TV previously but ever since we moved to this house, I like lounging on the sofa each night after I tucked baby in for the night. And I found watching CSI extremely exciting as they have 2 episode back to back on 2 nights in a week.

Hubby asked me why I like watching this particular show so much out of a sudden and I told him it is very interesting to watch the plots of the crimes and the way they used technology to find criminal background checks. I do wonder sometimes if this is what the police force in the US is like? So high tech!

Anyway, it is another was to de-stress and relax… like reading a book but a short one just within an hour the ’story’ conclude.
